Bima is a place where locate in eastest side of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It’s exatly in eastest side of Sumbawa island near Komodo’s.

After reform in Indonesia, this place was divide into Bima regency and Bima city as the administrate.

Bima locate :

North side: Flores sea
South side: Indonesian ocean
East side: Sape straits
West side: Dompu regency (Dompu and Bima has same culture and tradition . They are namely as “Dou Mbojo”)

A small review of Bima’s history

Bima regency had declarated on July, 5, 1640 M. When Sultan Abdul Kahir had became first Bima’s Sultan whom act the kingdom based on the Islamic value. This declarate become the celebrate day of Bima. 5th July of Bima.

Some information from rare ancient statue were found such like Wadu Pa’a, Wadu Nocu, Wadu Tunti (written stone) in Padende, Donggo explaine about the ancient era of Bimanesse life.

There are five old leader as known in ancient era, Ncuhi Dara, Ncuhi Parewa,Ncuhi Padolo, Ncuhi Banggapupa and Ncuhi Dorowani (Ncuhi is a symbolize for small leader).

Another era such based on “BO” . BO is a legal notes of Bima kingdom and it’s the only one. All Ncuhi are leader by Bima sultan. This time as known as “Kesultanan Bima” era and the way of life is based on Hukum Hadat, an Islamic value such worldwide known as Islamic Shari’a.

In this time. Bima kingdom (kesultanan Bima) had been popular and famous in Indonesia.

Kesultanan Bima is very famous and become popular in east and middle part of Indonesia. Some document and stories tell us and give a proven. Even Komodo’s (Rinca island as namely in ancient era, Manggarai was the coloni of Bima kingdom).

Today there are still exist some building. Asi Mbojo (Bima palace) and Sultan moesque). Bima palace (Asi Mbojo) based on Renjana et all (2009) that we see today were built in 1927-1929 influence bu Europe style.,it’s a new one after fired in 19 century (an old) as look like Portugis style palace. The arckitek was Re Hatta and Bumi Jero Istana. It’s finished in 1929 )

Islam in Bima

There are many perception about the information were first era Islam came to Bima. BO, as claim as Bima’s kingdom legal notes wrote when Bima’s King in 1015 Hijriah (1616 M) visited GOwa (Gowa is a kingdom too, located in South Sulawesi) was got merried to princess of Gowa’s and latesty the name of
Bima’s king change into Abdul Kahir or Kahar (name based on Islam value, that it’s commonly for everyone whom become muslim some of changed or modificate name as Islam one, because as moslem name as like as a prayer, has the meaning). This could be a Sultan which Zollinger callled him as Abdul Kahir (Renjana et al, 2009).

While an old statue namely “Wadu Tunti Parapi” found in Parangina,
Sape.,Wrote and explain that Islam was spread by Muslim ever and through at the first place in Sape exist, as the local harbour at the eastest side of
Bima.,That why even nowaday in every place of Bima where exist, off course in Sape too.

Bimanesse

There are famous etnic group living,such Bimanese (dou mbojo-red) as mayority and other small etnic group Donggo (dou Donggo), Buginesse, Bajo, Malay, Javanese, Arabic,Chinesse,etc.
Mayority of Bimanese is moslem. An absolutely-obey moslem. But,they are very tolerate for other religion exist.

The population based on Statictic Data is 436.437 in Bima regency and 57.108 in Bima city.,Most of Bimanesse are farmer, sailor, civil servant etc.
The Bimanesse are unique and simply. There are still defence own tradition,culture,custom and way of life which belong toIslamic value
(Syariah Islam) althought some people like another Indonesian were influence by other culture.

Bima, a lost nation

Why called bima, a lost nation*?.

Bima in ancient Era was a vey famous and prosperous nation in Sumbawa island. There many comodity and the stuffs well known. All sector in life as a wealthy nation was foundly. Agricultural product,fishery,and many more. But were there condition right now. There many Bima’s doesnt get a good living and prospeurity, high standart of education, economically, healty life sometimes only a dream night. I mean, there are still found many poorless people in Bima.

Moreover, talking about the culture and some of. The Bimanesse had been lost nation as generation. Throught Tambora eruption in 1815. Many bimanesse was died and missing. It’s a very massive and just like a “nighmare” forever after ever. Imagine that Tambora eruption more killed peole and been a biggest disaster compared with Eyjafjallajokull eruption in Islandia. It’s made our culture look like missing.

Tourism, the favourite place

There are some awesome and beautiful place in Bima. Matamboko and Torowamba beach, Bajo island which Pasir Putih and Telaga Ana Fari (located in Sape,eastest distric of Bima regency as known as East Bima), Sangiang volcano (located in Wera), House of Sultan (Asi Mbojo/Bima museum), Pulau Ular (snakes island,those the snakes unwild and unbitten one), Lawata beach, Ama Hami, Pasar Senggol (Senggol market),etc

So..,it’s Bima!!!
